The Senate Deputy Minority Leader, Senator Lere Oyewumi, has described media as critical and important stakeholders for any politicians and government to succeed.
Senator Oyewumi, who represented the Osun West Senatorial District at the Senate, made this known during an interactive session with the media of various organisations in his Ikire Country Home on Friday.
The Ikire born politician who sought adequate collaboration with the media appealed to them to support him in his journey to transform the entire Osun West Senatorial District.
“I want to seek your collaboration as journalists for us to put hands on deck to establish a protocol that would take Osun West to greater heights as your contribution and support cannot be over emphasised.
“For the media to contribute effectively in enthroning good governance, they must as a matter of responsibility apply the basic principles of patriotism, accountability, transparency and objectivity in the discharge of their duties and uphold the sanctity of truth and fairness at all times.
” Whatever people says about me, tell me and let me know as I love criticism for me to know the area of my weakness and for me to do necessary correction at the right time as no one is perfect except the Almighty God” he said.

Senator Oyewumi used the medium to appreciate the entire people of his senatorial district for their unalloyed support to him since he assumed the senate while assuring them of accountability in the area of sharing of dividends of democracy.
Senator Oyewumi promised the people of Osun West Senatorial District further that, “I will not deny you all what belongs to you all. Just continue to demonstrate your unflinching support to our party, the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, our amiable Governor Ademola Adeleke and his government as we cannot do it alone without your complete supports and prayers for us to succeed.
” I want to assure you once again that all the uncompleted or abandoned projects by the immediate past administration would be duly completed under our incumbent regime for the betterment of the people we are serving.
“I am not going to be Abuja Senator but I would always be making myself available for me to be pursuing your welfare in all ramifications” Senator Oyewumi concluded.
