The management of Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, has received commendations from the Senate for being proactive and prudent in the management of resources.

The Senate Committee on Health, led by Senator Dr. Ipalibo Harry-Banigo, during an oversight visit to the hospital, specifically praised the leadership for its dedication even as it pledged its commitment to address the challenges facing the hospital.
Dr. Harry-Banigo expressed satisfaction with management’s decision to embrace solar energy and depend less on public power supply.
She gave an assurance that the Senate would look into areas of need outlined including sustainable power supply, manpower development amd recruitment of additional healthcare professionals.
Chief Medical Director at LUTH, Prof. Wasiu Lanre Adeyemo expressed gratitude for the support of the Senate, the House of Representatives and the Federal Government in ensuring sustained renewal of infrastructure at the hospital.
Professor Adeyemo highlighted challenges faced by the hospital, especially shortage of manpower, payment to outsourced staff and high cost of electricity.
He appealed to the Senate for funds to support renewable energy initiatives, emphasizing the critical role of power in hospital operations.
The Committee was at LUTH to assess its areas of need and strategize on ways to enhance service delivery to Nigerians.
