As Nigeria celebrates its 64th Independence Day, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua has called on Nigerians to embrace tolerance, patriotism, and selfless leadership, to build a better future for the nation.

In a press statement released on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, Yar’adua, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Army and Northern Senators Forum, urged leaders at all levels to prioritize good governance, accountability, and the welfare of citizens.

“We must continue to work together to build a better future, one that is founded on the principles of tolerance, patriotism, and selfless leadership,” Yar’adua stated.

He said that, “Our founding fathers fought tirelessly for our freedom and independence, and their legacy inspires us to strive for a united, prosperous, and harmonious Nigeria.”

Yar’adua acknowledged Nigeria’s progress in sustaining democracy since 1999 but emphasized the need to address the challenges ahead.

He added, “We’ve made significant strides, but we must recognize the challenges that still lie ahead. Let us draw strength from our shared values and collective aspirations.”

The senator’s message comes as Nigeria marks 64 years of independence from British colonial rule.
