● Lagos CP Fatai Tijani inspects Lekki campus after viral video of masked men emerging from forest
Pan-Atlantic University was thrown into a security scare Wednesday after a viral video showed two masked individuals emerging from a forest near the Lekki campus, prompting an immediate response from the Lagos State Police Command.
Commissioner of Police Mr Fatai Tijani led senior operational officers on an assessment visit to the internationally-respected institution on June 17, 2026, to review existing security measures and reassure students, staff members and parents.
—Police assess campus security—
The command’s spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the development in a statement.
Tijani inspected the university’s perimeter and access points alongside management, emphasising the need for stronger security structures.
He advised the institution to improve perimeter fencing and strengthen access control measures, saying proactive steps were essential to prevent potential threats and protect the university community.
“Acts of self-sabotage capable of weakening existing security arrangements must be avoided,” Tijani cautioned, urging students and staff members to cooperate with security agencies and share timely information.
—Drones deployed around Lekki axis—
In response to emerging concerns, the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF, supported by the state government, has deployed surveillance drones in Pan-Atlantic University.
The drones will boost aerial monitoring, intelligence gathering and crime prevention across the Lekki axis.
The deployment is part of a broader effort to strengthen security in fast-developing areas with dense student populations.
–Police reassure community–
Tijani reassured the university management, students, staff members and parents of the command’s commitment to protecting life and property in Lagos.
He urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through the command’s emergency lines: 07061019374, 08065154338, 08063299264, 08039344870 and 09168630929.
“Maintaining peace and security remains a priority for the command,” the CP reiterated, as investigations continue into the identity and intent of the masked individuals seen in the viral footage.
Pan-Atlantic University has not released an official statement on the incident. Classes and activities on campus continued under heightened security.
