The police on Monday, charged a 45- year-old security guard, Ismail Obafunsho, before an Ota Magistrates ‘Court in Ogun, for allegedly breaking into a shop to steal goods worth N2.2 millions.
Obafunsho, whose address was not provided, is trial on a three-count charge of conspiracy, burglary and stealing.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP E.O. Adaraloye, told the court that the defendant and others at large, conspired to commit the offence sometime in 2025, at about 7.00 a.m. at Bells Junction area in Ota.
He alleged that the defendant conspired with his accomplices to break into a shop and stole four bags of rice, 10 packs of Indomie, 10 packs of Pepsi and other valuable items all worth N2.2 millions.

The prosecutor said that the offences contravene the provisions of section 390(9) 414 and 516 of Criminal Law of Ogun State, 2006.

The Magistrate, Mrs O.O. Fadairo, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with one surety in like sum.

Fadairo held that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with evidence of tax payment to the state Government.
She consequently, adjourned the case until March 2, for hearing.
