Some students of Ebira Muslim Community College Okengwe, (EMCCO) in Okene LGA of Kogi state have allegedly beaten one of their teachers to coma.
The boys, who were said to be in SS2, disguised as a cult group to embarrass and humiliate the Physics teacher, Mr Muktar Salihu.
The alleged leader of the group, Abdulbatin, is said to be a son to one of the traditional rulers in the locality under Okene council Area.
As of the time of this report, the teacher who went into coma was said to be receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
One of the school teachers has, however, called on relevant agencies to assist the school in curbing the activities of the ‘boys’.
“We urge the State Ministry of Education, State Education Board, the security agencies and other relevant authorities to urgently swing into action with a view to bringing the perpetrators to book, forestall future occurrences and instill discipline in our schools and colleges,” the teachers stated.
The District Police Officer in the area has waded into the matter and has ordered the traditional ruler to produce his son tomorrow without fail. [With Vanguard report]
