Rep Tajuden Adefisoye, a former member of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) on Wednesday in Abuja defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Announcing his defection, Rep Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, said that in the letter written by the lawmaker, he attributed his defection to crisis within the party.
Gbajabiamila added that Adefisoye also cited the protracted court cases in the party that had lingered for so long, adding that the leadership crisis was taken a toll on the party.
However, sounding jocular, Gbajabiamila asked Rep Ndudi Elumelu, the minority Leader of the House if he had anything to say over the defection of the lawmaker.
Elumelu in turn asked the speaker to withdraw his letter of defection, adding that such move was against the constitution.
Adefisoye is representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal constituency of Ondo.
Recall that two lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) from Kano and Taraba on Dec.15 defected to the APC.
