Former Senate President, Senator Abubakar Bukola Saraki has commiserated with the traders whose businesses have been affected and the victims that were injured at the fire incident at Chemical Market, Onitsha Head Bridge in Anambra State.

Saraki expressed sadness over the value of goods that were destroyed and the unfortunate impact it will have on the livelihoods of all the traders affected especially at a time when the nation is experiencing economic hardship.

“I commiserate with the traders whose businesses have been affected and the victims that were injured at the fire incident at Chemical Market, Onitsha Head Bridge in Anambra State.

“As I have emphasized over the years — particularly with the #GrowNigeriaConversation on market fires, we need policies and safety measures in place to forestall the reoccurrence of such unfortunate incidents.

“Additionally, emergency agencies must also be well-trained and equipped to swiftly respond to such disasters,” Saraki said

He prayed the Almighty God to help all the families that have been affected to recover their losses. “My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their lives,” Saraki said.
