Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has pledged to rededicate himself to building a state that works for everyone.

He made this commitment during a thanksgiving event marking his 60th birthday on Wednesday.

The event was themed :Rhythms of Worship with Adura’.

Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to Lagos residents for the opportunity to serve, saying Lagos is more than a city — it’s an idea and a promise.

“Even at 60, I rededicate myself to building a Lagos that works for all,” he said.

He described the milestone not just as personal, but a spiritual moment for reflection, gratitude, and renewed commitment.

“Today is all about God — His goodness, faithfulness, and the rhythm of His love that echoes in my life and our beloved Lagos,” he said.

The governor said the event’s theme, Adura, came from his name, Aduragbemi, meaning ‘prayer has lifted me’.

He noted that it reflects the vital role prayer plays in his personal and public life.

“This gathering is not about spectacle but about substance — creating a sacred space for life, health, peace, and hope,” Sanwo-Olu said.

He thanked his family and team, saying: “Without them, I would not be the man I am today.”

“To my friends, colleagues, and team members who challenge and support me, I say thank you.

“This celebration belongs to you as much as it does to me,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that it was a day of music, gratitude, and reflection.

Family, friends, political associates, and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the governor’s 60th birthday.

The event featured inspiring performances by gospel artistes such as Moses Bliss, Mercy Chinwo, and Arugbo Ojo.

Others included Emma Oh My God, the MFM Guitar Choir, and the Dream Catchers Academy.

The music ministers led worship that was celebratory and spiritually uplifting.

Among dignitaries present were Governors Lucky Aiyedatiwa, Ademola Adeleke, and Biodun Oyebanji.

Also in attendance were former Minister of Works, Mr Babatunde Fashola, and Lagos Deputy Governor, Dr Obafemi Hamzat.

Other attendees included federal and state lawmakers, traditional rulers, party faithful, and members of the governor’s extended family.
