Four athletes from SamKay Athletics Club will proudly represent Bayelsa State at the 22nd National Sports Festival, the Gateway Games, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
They will compete in a range of track and field events, facing off against Nigeria’s finest for top honours.
Perezide Sigah will take on the women’s 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay, while Faith Ezechukwu will race in the 400m and 4x400m relay.
Samson Teibowei will compete in the men’s 800m and 1500m, and Perfect Faye, among the Invited Junior Athletes, will participate in the men’s 200m, 4x100m, and 4x400m relays.
The team has trained relentlessly and is ready to deliver impressive results.
Dr. Kolawole Oredipe, SamKay Athletics Club’s Founder, is optimistic about surpassing their previous second-place finish and clinching the top spot for the first time.
He praised Governor Senator Douye Diri, Sports Commissioner Daniel Igali, and Director of Sports Sir Braveman Wodi for their unwavering support in ensuring the athletes’ readiness and well-being.
