Mr Sam Ekwueme has won the primary election to represent Igboetiti/Uzo-uwani federal Constituency on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
In the election conducted at the Community primary school, Aku, Ekwueme defeated his rival, Mrs Eunice Atuejide, with 92 to 39 votes.
The election was going on smoothly until Eunice who sensed she was losing tried to hijack the ballot papers already cast.
It took the prompt reaction of the electoral officers and some party supporters to retrieve the rumpled ballot papers from the woman and the touts she allegedly brought to disrupt the election.
After counting the votes cast, Sam Ekwueme polled 92 votes against Atuejide’s 39 votes.
Ekwueme was subsequently returned as the APC candidate for the Igboetiti/Uzo-uwani candidate for the House of Representatives, in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.
