The Chairman of Alimosho Local Government, Mr Johnson Akinpelu, has urged residents to be more security conscious during the forthcoming Sallah festival, assuring them of a cleaner environment during the period.
Akinpelu gave the advice during a peace and security stakeholders meeting held at the council secretariat on Wednesday.
He said the meeting also reviewed the environmental sanitation exercise held on April 25, aimed at sustaining cleanliness in the community before and after the Sallah celebration.
The chairman commended the community ruler, Oba Nosiru Babatunde, the Oba of Shasha Town, and other stakeholders for their participation and support during the sanitation exercise.
He urged security agencies to intensify surveillance during the festive period.
“It would be necessary to strengthen surveillance ahead of the forthcoming Sallah celebrations,” he said.
Akinpelu also urged residents to be security conscious and report strange movements within their communities.
“We urge all security agencies to sustain surveillance operations across Alimosho,” he said.
He said the council remained committed to strengthening inter-agency collaboration to prevent activities capable of disrupting peace before, during and after the celebration.
Akinpelu advised the police to ensure that trailers and trucks used for transporting goods do not carry passengers alongside rams and other items.
