The Rivers State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has rejected the impeachment proceedings initiated by the Rivers State House of Assembly against Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, citing it as an “unfortunate development” and a “hangover from strifes within the PDP”.

In a statement signed by Darlington Nwauju, the APC spokesperson, the party emphasised that while the legislature had a constitutional role in checks and balances, the impeachment process was unacceptable.

The party argued that the budget approved by the National Assembly in May 2025, with a total allocation of ₦1.485 trillion, was valid until August 2026, and Governor Fubara might not need to present a supplementary budget.
