Lawyer and Civil Rights Activist, Vincent Adodo, has commended the Hon. Justice O.M. Adejumo of the High Court of Ondo State for his “epochal judgment in the fundamental rights suit filed against the Government of Ondo State by Mr. Tope Temokun on behalf of a downtrodden citizen, Mr. Oluwarotimi who was shot and maimed by some misguided operatives of the Amotekun Security Network.”

In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday, Barrister Adodo said that “in these times when judicial independence is almost becoming a utopian concept due to interference and intimidation of the Judicial arm of Government by the Executive, It’s a significant mark of courage for a Judge of a State High Court to hand over judgment against the State Government in several millions of naira (30 Million Naira). This is a very rare occurrence these days.”

He asserted: “This judgment resonates the age long position that the Judiciary is the bulwark of democracy and the Rule of Law and that the fundamental rights of the citizen enshrined in the Constitution must be respected and protected at all times.”
