Retiree docked for alleged criminal breach of trust

A 62-year-old retiree, Bala Danjuma, was on Tuesdat docked in  a Chief Magistrates’ Court in Gwagwalada, FCT, for alleged criminal breath of trust.

Danjuma, who resides in Angwan Dodo, Gwagwalada  is charged with criminal breach of trust and cheating.

The Prosecution Counsel, Abdullahi Tanko, told the court that the matter was reported at the police station by Ali Usman, of Old Kutunku Gwagwalada, Abuja, on March 30.

Tanko said that sometime in December 2023 , the complainant bought an uncompleted building and gave the defendant N900,000 to geliver to the owner of the property.

He said that the defendant later called the complainant and told him that on his way to deliver the money, N150,000 fell out of his pockets.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.

The defendant  pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Chief Magistrate Jacinta Okeke, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N400,000 with two sureties in like sum.

Okeke ordered that the sureties must reside within the jurisdiction of the court, must submit two passport photography each and photocopy of their identification.

She said that the addresses of the sureties must be verified and adjourned the case until June 12 for hearing. (NAN)
