In a bid to reposition the national assembly for optimal performance, clerk to the national assembly [CNA] Kamoru Ogunlana, Esq. has begun a series of meetings with the thirteen directorates on his watch.

THE CONCLAVE learnt that the meetings, the first of their kind since Ogunlana stepped in the saddle on February 2, 2025, were to enable management to appraise its workings and strategise for the tasks ahead.

Fresh from a top management retreat where implementable resolutions and action plans were reached on how to strengthen the NASS bureaucracy to deliver on its core mandates to both the political and administrative wings of the National Assembly, the CNA is taking the opportunity of the meetings to sensitise and get their critical buy-in for the management agenda.

THE CONCLAVE reports that while the CNA and its top management team are looking at the bigger picture of an all-round bureaucracy that works for all, the staff mrmbers are understandably much more interested in their work conditions and welfare packages.

Instructively, the CNA has made the issue of improved staff members’ welfare his mantra at every forum.

At the end of the meetings, THE CONCLAVE reports that the CNA and his top management team expect to reposition the bureaucracy to provide quality services, disciplined staff members, and institution of excellence in discharge of legislative services..

The directorates that he had engaged with so far had shared their challenges and their prospects in the current effort to take the bureaucracy to the next level.

Many staff members, as learnt, are upbeat, in the expectation that the outcome of the meetings would be considered in the overall implementation and achievement of goals and/or objectuves.

Staff members are already referencing the robustness of the ongoing engagements between the clerk and the directorates.

Some other staff members have applauded the clerk for engaging key stakeholders in each directorate.

This, as explained, represented a clarity of vision the Clerk has for the national assembly bureaucracy.

THE CONCLAVE reports that the Clerk and his top management have their eyes on the ball: to reposition the bureaucracy for effective service delivery.
