The Nigerian Red Cross Society of Nigeria (NRCS), Kano branch, has constructed zebra crossings across the state capital to ensure safety on the roads.
The NRCS Branch Secretary, Alhaji Musa Abdullahi, who disclosed this on Thursday in Kano, said it became necessary for transporters and other road users.
He said the zebra crossings, which were constructed at strategic places like hospitals, schools and market areas, would assist motorists to reduce speed on the roads.
According to him, the society has distributed assorted drugs to sickle cell patients to improve their access to healthcare at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital.
“The drugs will be given to them free for 30 days and it includes people in rural areas,”he said.
Abdullahi appealed to the public to take care of their health and ensure that they take their children to any nearby hospital immediately if they observe any symptoms of sickness.
He said they should endeavour to take necessary vaccines, clean their environments and prepare their foods in a hygienic environments.(NAN)
