The recent directive reportedly given by the National Assembly chairman and Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio to the National Assembly Service Commission [NASC] to cancel recent appointments to the National Assembly top Bureaucracy has been reviewed.

The status quo before the Senate President’s purported directive, remains as Atiku Ibrahim, Sidi Ibrahim, and others have retained their positions.

The NASC had earlier announced a series of top management level appointments.

Similarly, the position of chairman establishment committee of the NASC is retained by the nominee from Benue state, North Central, and not Patrick Giwa as directed by the Senate President, indicating a softening of stance.

A report by The Big Eye quoted sources to have confirmed the latest development.

It said that top principal officers in the National Assembly and external powers prevailed on the Senate President.

The report had quoted insiders familiar with the matter, to have said that the Senate President in a meeting held with the commission last week had cancelled the appointments and also announced Patrick Giwa to head the establishment committee based on his experience and integrity.

The Senate President, as reported, was surprised that a former Clerk to the House of Representatives with establishment experience was not made chairman of such an important committee.

He had gone ahead to pronounce Giwa Chairman of the committee.

High stakes intrigues, especially of a presiding officer, who reportedly is the sponsor of the current chairman from Benue state, stopped Giwa from taking over the office.

Recall that Akpabio had directed NASC to cancel the recent appointments and had also appointed Giwa Establishment Committee.
