Raphael “Trouble” Igbokwe boasts: “I will soon be World Champion”

Raphael Igbokwe, aka “Trouble”, a Nigerian Diaspora Boxer has asked Nigerians to be on the lookout for him as he would soon be World Champion.

Igbokwe, who was at the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM) on Wednesday to pay a courtesy visit on the Commission’s Chairman/CEO, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, expressed his excitement to be back home after 12 years in the United States, saying that being a Nigerian makes him happy.

He said: “This is the best time I have had in my life. I am super excited to be back home in Nigeria. I love Nigeria.”

The boxer said that coming home was the best decision he had made.

He noted that he had more fans at home in Nigeria than in America where he “holds a belt as a middleweight champion in boxing in Houston, Texas.”

The NiDCOM Boss who was very happy to receive the boxer appreciated him for making Nigeria proud.

“You make me proud to be a Nigerian,” she added.

Dabiri-Erewa urged Igbokwe to continue to be a role model to Nigerians, while noting that the country was proud of him.

She said: “We want to work with you to harness the many talents out there and mentor these youths. There is so much we will be doing together.”

Dabiri-Erewa encouraged him to continue to be a good ambassador of the country, stating that the Commission had established a Diaspora Sports Mentorship Programme to facilitate Diaspora skills transfer in Sports.

Raphael Igbokwe is credited with 18 wins, 11 of which were by knockouts and 3 losses in 21 fights.
