The Chairman, Ifelodun Local Government Area of Osun State, Hon Hassan Kamorudeen Okanlawon, has congratulated the entire Muslims for witnessing the commencement of this year’s Ramadan fast, urging them to use the period to pray for Osun State and Nigeria as a whole.
The Ifelodun Council boss, who made this known in a press statement issued and made available to journalists on Sunday, urged Muslims to use the Ramadan season to pray for peace and prosperity in Osun State, especially the forthcoming governorship election.
Okanlawon said that through prayer and complete cooperation of the people, the state would witness a peaceful election.
Hon Okanlawon said the ongoing fasting period by Muslims entailed a lot of sacrifices, not only total abstinence from food but other indulgences.
The Ifelodun Council boss who reiterated his efforts in transforming the entire council areas in the statement, urged the entire Muslims to also use this Ramadan period to pray for the governor of the state, Mr Gboyega Oyetola on his second term agenda.
“I want to use this medium to admonish our people in Ifelodun and entire state not to relent in demonstrating their unflinching support, love and prayers to our amiable governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola whom God has been using in transforming the entire state since he assumed the office. Let us support his bid to return to the office come July 16 for us to continue to enjoy dividends of democracy.
“I also want to appeal to you all to safeguard your Permanent Voters Card (PVC) for you to partake in the July 16 governorship election in the state and make sure you don’t allow anybody to steal it.
“This PVC is your strength and it is the one you will use to support Mr Governor in July, so you must jealously guard it” The Chairman said.
Hon Okanlawon, who commended the entire people, leaders and youths of Ifelodun for their total support to him since he assumed the office, promised not to let them down in all ramifications, saying his priority is for him to work towards their welfare and upliftment, promised not to rest on his oars.
