As the rainy season intensifies, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra, has urged motorists to put their vehicles in good condition before plying the roads.
The State’s Sector Commander of FRSC, Bridget Asekhauno, gave the advice on Wednesday in Awka, as rainfall intensified across parts of the country.
Asekhauno warned that roads become increasingly slippery during rainfall, making careful driving essential.
She expressed concern over continued use of worn-out tyres by some drivers, noting that such tyres lose proper grip on the road surface.
According to her, worn-out tyres reduce effective contact with the road, increasing the risk of skidding or loss of control when brakes are applied.
She consequently, harped on the need for motorists to slow down significantly when roads are wet.
“Drivers must carry out routine vehicle checks before driving; They should regularly check their tyres, oil and water levels.

“Motorists must obey traffic rules, avoid driving under the influence of alcohol, and pull over safely when rainfall becomes too heavy and visibility is poor,” she said.
Asekhauno reaffirmed the corps’ commitment to ensuring safety on Nigerian roads, especially during challenging rainy season.
