Paris Saint-Germain retained the UEFA Champions League title on Saturday, May 30, 2026, edging Arsenal 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw through extra time at Puskas Arena.
Kai Havertz stunned PSG early, firing Arsenal ahead in the 6th minute. The Gunners held the lead until the second half when Ousmane Dembele converted a penalty to restore parity for the French champions.
Neither side could find a winner in extra time, forcing the final to a shootout. PSG’s Russian goalkeeper Matvey Safonov was the hero, making key saves as PSG converted 4 of 5 spot-kicks to seal back-to-back European titles.
The victory cements PSG’s dominance in Europe and denies Arsenal their first Champions League crown. Dembele’s cool penalty under pressure and Safonov’s shootout saves swung the final in Paris’ favour.
