Okaka Correctional Centre’s Liberty FC have been knocked out of the Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, popularly known as the Prosperity Cup 2026, after suffering a 2-0 defeat to Donbai United.

The match, played at the Correctional Centre pitch, ended goalless at halftime before Ebitari Ebipado scored an own goal for Liberty FC in the 61st minute. Pulicar Saviour sealed the victory for Donbai United with a goal in the 80th minute.

High-scoring Bayelsa United Feeders thrashed Peace FC 5-1 at the Kpansia centre to advance, having previously defeated Osaro FC.

United Stars defeated Moving Stars FC 4-2 on penalties after a 2-2 draw at Bishop Dimeari Grammar School (BDGS) centre.Sea Side FA edged Jebs Int’l School 2-1 to qualify.

At the Igbogene centre, Akinima/Biogbo beat Gbarain Starlet 2-1, while Mighty-Mighty crushed Bayelsa Medical University (BMU) Strikers 7-2.

Citiboi Feeders defeated FC Silina 3-1 at the Obunagha centre, and Brazil FC hammered Dominion FC to progress.

Global City overcame Super B FC 2-1 at the Okordia centre, while Akenfa FC staged a comeback from two goals down to beat Etevie FC 3-0 on penalties following a 2-2 draw.

At the Swali centre, Hummels Stars edged God’s Mercy City 1-0, and Izuo Gillet FC defeated Ikolo FC 5-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Silas of Mountain Fire Ministry (MFM) FC set a new record for the fastest goal in the competition, scoring just 11 seconds into their match against Slaughter FC. This beat the previous record of 53 seconds set by Ibibo Amos of Ewoi FC.

Ogbia Local Government Area play-offs are scheduled for Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the Imiringi centre. Kolo Creek United will face Fuo Kings FC of Otuoke at 12:00 noon, while Edi 1 FC take on Orashi FC at 3:00 pm.

Action continues on Sunday, March 29, 2026, in Sagbama LGA as the tournament prepares to move to Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA.4
