Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume has said President Bola Tinubu recognizes the diversity of Nigeria and is working towards carrying every section of the country along.

Akume stated this at a thanksgivings Mass organized in his honour at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Nyanya, Abuja on Sunday.

“We have diversity in this country and today, President Bola Tinubu recognizes this diversity.”

He showed it when he was the governor of Lagos, and it has reflected in the appointments he has made so far.

“He has this attitude of accepting diversity as a veritable tool for unity, peace and development.

“And when diversity is properly harnessed, it becomes a source of strength.

“Pray for him and pray for me because being at the top is not easy and we need your prayers,” Akume told the congregation.

He disclosed that the country’s economy was in total disaster before Tinubu took over but assured them that plans were underway to reinvigorate it.

He appreciated the Tiv community for organizing the thanksgiving Mass for him and called for sustained prayers to succeed.

In his homily, the Auxiliary Bishop, Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, Most Rev. Anselm Umoren called on Christians to truly repent from their sinful ways, stressing that it was then, that they would have the benefit of the change that they all yearned for in the society and life eternal on the judgement day.

The bishop enjoined office holders to always remember that the things of the world were only transient and they would be remembered only by the positive change they engendered while in office.

He urged the congregation to always pray for leaders in the society and particularly for Akume so that he (they) would be effective and efficient as he carried out his national assignment as SGF.
