About the Lead Panelist: Prof. Godwin Sogolo
Professor Sogolo is Emeritus Professor of Philosophy* at the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN, Abuja. He was formerly Professor of Philosophy at the University of Ibadan, where he taught and conducted research for over three decades.
He holds a B.A. Hons in Philosophy from the University of Ife — now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife — and a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Cardiff University, Wales, UK. He is a Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Letters, FNAL.
His principal area of scholarship is African Philosophy, with special focus on traditional African thought systems, ethics, metaphysics, and social and political philosophy. A prolific author, Professor Sogolo has published extensively in books and leading scholarly journals and has presented papers at numerous national and international conferences. He remains intellectually vibrant and continues to mentor younger scholars.
Beyond academia, Professor Sogolo has rendered distinguished public service. He has served as:
