Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan, CON, Ph.D, led the Principal Officers into the Chambers, took the official prayers and began the day’s proceedings at 10:54am.

Senator Oluremi Tinubu moved for the adoption of Votes and Proceedings for Tuesday, 8th June, 2021.

The motion was seconded by Senator Biodun Olujimi.

1. Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi submitted two petitions from his constituents:

a. Petition against the alleged killing of a member of his constituents by men of the Nigerian Air Force;

b. Petition against the extrajudicial killing of another member of his constituents by officers of the Nigerian Army.

Petitions were laid and referred to the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petition to report back within four weeks.

Confirmation of the Nominations of the following persons for Appointment as Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by Senator Yahaya Abdullahi (Senate Leader).

Senate Leader moved that the Senate do consider the request of Mr. President C-in-C on the Confirmation of the Nominations of the Following persons for Appointment as Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in accordance with Paragraph 14 Part 1(F) of the Third Schedule to the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.

1. Prof. Muhammad Sani Kallah – Commissioner – Katsina State

2. Lauretta Onochie – Commissioner – Delta State

3. Prof. Kunle Cornelius Ajayi – Commissioner – Ekiti State

4. Saidu Babura Ahmad, mni –Commissioner – Jigawa State

5. Prof. Sani Muhammad Adam – Commissioner – North-Central

6. Dr. Baba Bila – Commissioner – North-East

Senator Eyinnaya Abaribe seconded.

SPECIAL SESSION TO MARK THE SECOND YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF THE 9TH SENATE OF THE FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGEIRA

1. Special Session by Senator Yahaya Abdullahi (Senate Leader)

Senate Leader moved that the Senate do begin the Special Session to mark the Second Year Anniversary of the 9th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The Senate examined progress made within two years while Senators made comments to mark the second year anniversary of the 9th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Senate Leader moved that plenary be adjourned till another legislative day.
