Segun Olowookere, sentenced to death for conspiracy and stealing of chicken, has been released from prison.
His release followed the clemency granted him and 53 other convicts by Governor Ademola Adeleke.
Olowookere was released after the document granting him clemency was perfected at the prison.
Olowookere, along with Morakinyo Sunday, was sentenced to death 14 years ago (2010) by an Osun State High Court over conspiracy and stealing of chicken.
However, they, along with 51 others, were granted clemency by the governor on December 24.
Olowookere met with some social media influencers after his release before heading to Osun State.
Confirming the release at a public function, the Special Adviser to Governor Adeleke on Public Communication, Olusola Ajala, said the freed young man was on his way to the state.
“I can confirm to you all that Segun Olowookere, sentenced to death for stealing, has been released from the Kirikiri Maximum Prison.
“He will be in Osun State any moment from now. He may even join us at the gathering and meet with Mr Governor.
“That is the level of compassion of the performing governor,” he said.
