Primate Elijah Ayodele, the leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, has claimed that “God has departed from Tinubu.”
This assertion came during a recent public address in Lagos, where Ayodele warned that unless significant changes occurred, Tinubu could face significant difficulty in the 2027 election.
Ayodele’s warning revolved primarily around Tinubu’s economic policies, particularly the controversial removal of fuel subsidies.
The clergyman suggested that these measures, combined with Nigeria’s worsening economic conditions, were alienating a large portion of the population.
According to Ayodele, “His leadership is not bringing relief to the people but hardship.”
The removal of fuel subsidies has been a contentious issue, and Ayodele argued that without adequate support systems in place to cushion the effects of such drastic changes, Nigerians were increasingly feeling the strain.
He pointed to rising inflation, soaring unemployment, and the escalating cost of living as evidence of the growing dissatisfaction among the electorate.
“If this government doesn’t listen to the cries of the people, even those who once supported Tinubu may soon turn against him,” Ayodele warned.
He painted the sense of frustration many Nigerians felt as they continued to grapple with economic difficulties.
Moreover, Ayodele also pointed to internal political tensions within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He highlighted the decampment of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir el-Rufai as a sign of deeper divisions within the party.
With more APC members expected to follow suit, Ayodele’s prediction of a fractured ruling party adds another layer of complexity to Tinubu’s re-election bid. [The Recorder]
