President Tinubu meets new service chiefs behind closed doors

President Bola Tinubu held a closed-door meeting with the newly appointed Service Chiefs at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Monday, October 27, 2025.

The meeting aimed to strengthen Nigeria’s security architecture and refine inter-agency coordination across the armed forces.

Those in attendance were- Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Major General Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Air Vice Marshal Kennedy Aneke; and, Chief of Naval Staff, Rear Admiral Idi Abbas

Although the agenda was not officially disclosed, sources suggested the meeting focused on strengthening Nigeria’s security framework; enhancing inter-agency coordination; and, refining operational priorities for the new military leadership

The meeting comes amid ongoing security concerns in Nigeria, including- Banditry in the North-West; Boko Haram and ISWAP insurgencies in the North-East; and, Kidnapping and communal violence in the North Central and Southern regions

The new Service Chiefs are expected to bring fresh perspectives and strategies to address these security challenges.

The meeting sets the tone for their operational priorities, emphasising counter-terrorism, Internal security, and, improved synergy among the armed services
