At least 10 people, including a pregnant woman, are feared dead after armed bandits attacked the grain market in Guga village, Bakori LGA, Katsina State, on Sunday.
Witnesses said the assailants stormed the community in broad daylight, opening fire indiscriminately on traders and residents.
They reportedly operated unhindered for several hours, setting several houses ablaze and rustling an unspecified number of livestock, including cows, goats, and sheep.
Residents said the victims were buried Monday morning in Guga village following a mass funeral held in Gidan Sarkin Noma and Gidan Wawo communities within Bakori LGA.
Many of the victims were farmers from neighboring communities who had traveled to the market to sell produce.
As of the time of reporting, neither government officials nor the police had issued an official statement.
Guga village has faced repeated bandit attacks and kidnappings in recent years, which have forced many residents to flee.
