Parts of Ibadan, Oyo State, were left without electricity on Tuesday after the Transmission Company of Nigeria shut down a 100MVA 132/33kV transformer at its Ayede Transmission Substation for scheduled maintenance.

TCN said the outage, which ran from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., was necessary to carry out routine checks on the facility and ensure its continued optimal performance.

The announcement was made in a statement signed by the company’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, and published on X.

TCN described the exercise as annual preventive maintenance and apologised for any inconvenience caused to electricity consumers in the affected districts.
