The Nigerian National Petroleum Limited (NNPC Ltd) has raised the alarm on plot by saboteurs to create artificial fuel scarcity by sponsoring a report purporting that the Port Harcourt Refinery has been shut down.
The NNPC Ltd, in a swift riposte to the “false report” doing the rounds in a section of the media, said that the Port Harcourt Refinery remained fully operational.
A statement by the company’s Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Mr Olufemi Soneye, said that preparations for the day’s loading (Saturday loading) were ongoing (as of press time).
Read the release issued by Soneye to debunk the false report about the shut down of the Port Harcourt Refinery:
“Port-Harcourt Refinery Fully Operational
“The attention of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has been drawn to reports in a section of the media alleging that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery which was re-streamed two months ago has been shut down.
“We wish to clarify that such reports are totally false as the refinery is fully operational as verified a few days ago by former Group Managing Directors of NNPC.
“Preparation for the day’s loading operation is currently ongoing.
“Members of the public are advised to discountenance such reports as they are the figments of the imagination of those who want to create artificial scarcity and rip-off Nigerians.”
Olufemi O. Soneye
Chief Corporate Communications Officer NNPC Ltd. Abuja.
