President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed “overwhelming joy” over the release of abducted female students of Government Girls Science Secondary School, Jangebe, in Zamfara.
Presidential spokesperson, Malam Garba Shehu, on Tuesday quoted President Buhari to have said: “I join the families and people of Zamfara in welcoming and celebrating the release of these traumatized female students.”
President Buhari said he was excited that their ordeal came to a happy end without any incident.
He stated that “being held in captivity is an agonizing experience not only for the victims, but also their families and all of us.”

The president called for greater vigilance by the people to prevent a recurrence.
He said that such vigilance would ensure that human intelligence was collected early enough to nip the bandits’ plans in the bud.
According to him, the time had come to reverse, completely, the grim and heartbreaking incidences of kidnapping.
He urged the police and the military to go after the kidnappers with a view to bringing them to justice.
He discouraged the idea of ransom payment saying it would continue to prosper the kidnappers and strengthen the crime.
