The Lagos State Police Command has explained the reason behind the detention of Samuel Daniels, brother of popular Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.
The command gave the clarification on Tuesday after online reports claimed that police officers had arrested Samuel following a recent family dispute involving the actress and her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko.
According to the command, the arrest was not carried out by its personnel but by officers from Abuja who came with a valid warrant to execute the order.
The police noted that Samuel was temporarily held at the Ogombo Police Division because the arrest took place late at night, adding that he was later taken out of Lagos for further investigation by the Abuja team.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Adebisi, explained that the command only provided temporary custody due to the timing of the arrest and did not initiate the operation.
The clarification came after Regina Daniels’ elder brother, Lawrence Daniels, accused Nwoko of being behind what he described as harassment against his family.
He had alleged that the senator should be held responsible if anything happened to his siblings.
As of the time of filing this report, the Federal Capital Territory Police Command had not released an official statement or given details on the reason for the arrest.
