The Niger State Police Command has warned vehicle owners and drivers of motor-vehicles in the state to henceforth desist from covering number plates of vehicles as well as unauthorized use of spy number plates.
It said any vehicle found covering number plates or caught using spy number plates without authorization shall be made to face the full wrath of the law.
According to it, such spy number plates shall be retrieved forthwith.
In a statement, the Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu A. Abiodun, said the development was in line with the announcement by the Inspector General of Police on the suspension of issuance of tinted glass permit and use of spy number plates by unauthourized vehicle users.
Abiodun said issuance of tinted glass permit and spy number plates were hereby suspended while members of the public were enjoined to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies as the measures were aimed at strengthening the internal security of the state.
