In a commendable display of vigilance and professionalism, the Nigeria Police Force has successfully thwarted an alleged assassination plot, leading to the arrest of two individuals, including Chairman of a Local Government Area in Benue State.
In an official statement, Force Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said preliminary investigations conducted by the Force Intelligence Department – Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) unveiled that the Local Government Chairman had purportedly engaged a militia with the sinister aim of eliminating the Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Aondona Hycenth Dajoh.
He said the swift response by FID-IRT was triggered by credible intelligence received on the planned assassination.
Both apprehended suspects are presently in police custody and are actively cooperating with ongoing investigations.
Adejobi added that the Nigeria Police Force remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of both citizens and public officials.
He said the arrested individuals will be subjected to the full extent of the law, underscoring the unwavering dedication of the Nigeria Police Force to maintaining law and order, as well as preventing crimes at every echelon of society.
