The Niger State Police Command said it had rescued the kidnapped traditional ruler of Wawa in Borgu Local Government of Niger State.
The victim, Dr Mahmud Aliyu, was kidnapped by heavily armed gunmen last Sunday at his palace about 10pm.
The Police spokesperson in the state, DSP Wasiu Abiodun, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria in Minna on Saturday.
Abiodun said the royal father was rescued on Friday at about 7:30pm after sustained efforts of the Police, military and vigilante.
Aliyu, according to the report, was receiving medical attention at an undisclosed facility.
