The Nigeria Police Force has achieved breakthroughs in the fight against kidnapping and gun-related crimes, with successful operations in Abia and Nasarawa States leading to the rescue of four kidnapped victims, the neutralization of seven criminals, and the recovery of firearms and ammunition.
Confirming the report Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi said in Abia State, the tactical team of the Police Command acted on credible intelligence following the abduction of four individuals along New Umuahia Road, Obingwa, on March 9, 2025.
The operatives tracked the kidnappers to a three-bedroom bungalow in Osokwa, Osisioma LGA, and engaged them in a fierce gun battle on March 14, 2025.
Adejobi said six members of the kidnapping syndicate were neutralized, and the four victims were rescued unharmed.
He added that the police recovered two AK-47 rifles, six magazines, and thirty-four rounds of live ammunition.
The rescued victims received medical attention at the Police Hospital.
In a separate operation, the Nasarawa State Police Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, neutralized a notorious kidnapper identified as Abdullahi, alias “Honor,” on March 14, 2025.
The suspect, who had been on the police wanted list, was intercepted near the Akwanga Central Mosque while attempting to escape on a motorcycle.
Adejobi said after brandishing a weapon in an attempt to resist arrest, he was subdued by security operatives and a beretta pistol and twelve rounds of 9mm ammunition were recovered.
One accomplice fled with gunshot wounds, and a manhunt is ongoing to track him down.
The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, commended the professionalism and effective collaboration of the operatives.
He reiterated the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to eradicating criminal activities and warned perpetrators of violent crimes to cease their activities or face decisive action.
The Force remains resolute in its mission to safeguard lives and property, promising continued efforts to dismantle criminal networks across the country.
