The Police have released son-in-law of Senator Rochas Okorocha, Uche Nwosu, about 24 hours after he was arrested during a church service on Sunday.
His arrest was akin to the modus operandi adopted by bandits and kidnappers when they launch attacks on their targets.
After the arrest in Church, the police said Nwosu was only arrested and not abducted contrary to sundry media reports that claimed he was abducted by gunmen.
The police did not offer any reason for his arrest. The Police did not also invite him before the arrest.
The Imo State Police command had issued a statement, saying Nwosu was not kidnapped but arrested.
The arrest, during a church service, was captured in a video recorded by some congregants who thought the gunmen were kidnappers.
In the video, the onlookers could be heard reading out the number plate of the getaway vehicle to be Abia UMA110 AA.
According to the voices in the video clip, the policemen stormed the St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Eziama-Obaire in Nkwerre Local Government Area of Imo State.
Uche Nwosu is the son-in-law of Senator Rochas Okorocha. He was chief of staff when Okorocha was governor of Imo State.
He later became commissioner for lands.
He was the 2019 governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA).
Nwadike Chikezie, Special Adviser Media to Uche Nwosu, in a statement said, “I have spoken with him and he extended his greetings to all of us out there.
“While we await police report on why the abduction and arrest, we call on everyone to remain calm and focused because God is in charge of the whole situation.”
The release added: “The act of desecrating the House of God we all know is a direct affront and challenge to God Almighty. We leave God to do his fight because vengeance is of God but to all Christians, does it now mean that the Government has no more respect for God and does it now mean that the House of God is no more a place one can take refuge? God prove your answers.” (additional reports by The Niche)
