The Niger State Police Command in a continued fight against thuggery and youth restiveness has raided criminal hideouts in Minna, the state capital.
Confirming the report, the Command Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Wasiu A. Abiodun, said the exercise was to curtail act of thuggery, youth restiveness and other crimes and criminalities in Minna.
He said on 21/06/2022, a combined team of Police operatives mobilised from Department of operations, Bosso and Minna Area Commands arrested 22 suspected thugs at different locations such as: Angwan-Daji, Angwan-Kanawa, Limawa, Maitumbi, Barkin-Sale and Makera area of Bosso and Chanchaga LGAs of the State.
Abiodun named the suspects arrested as Umaru Ibrahim aged 20yrs, Abba Adamu aged 29yrs, Nuhu Alhassan aged 20yrs, Abubakar Ahmed aged 21yrs, Abubakar Mohammed aged 16yrs, Lukman Isah aged 21yrs, Danjuma Musa aged 36yrs, Philimon Ishaku aged 17yrs, Aminu Hassan aged 20yrs, ThankGod Sunday aged 19yrs, Ayuba Timothy aged 18yrs, Danjuma Musa Haruna aged 18yrs, Abdulkarim Mohammed aged 17yrs and Kabiru Usman aged 23yrs
Others includes Usman Isah aged 19yrs, Musa Yusuf aged 21yrs, Kabiru Yahaya aged 18yrs, Masa’udu Yunusa aged 16yrs, Inyas Musa aged 21yrs, Nasiru Abdullahi aged 21yrs, Musa Suleiman aged 21yrs and Jabir Suleiman aged 18yrs.
He said exhibits recovered from the suspects included one saw machine, seven cutlasses, eight wraps of suspected cannabis, one scissors, two knives, sticks, and a bottle containing illicit substances.
The Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command, CP Monday Bala Kuryas, reassured members of the public that the Command would not relent in its efforts to ensure that miscreants who specialised in disturbance of public peace, most especially in Minna metropolis, were effectively dealt with in accordance to the law.
He reiterated his commitment to explore the administration of criminal justice system and partners the judiciary towards a diligent prosecution of the suspects arrested with reference to previous criminal records of each suspect.
He also urged members of public, parents and guardians to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies towards achieving a crime free environment in the State.
