In a troubling incident early Sunday morning, six men were shot and wounded at an after-hours nightclub in Houston, Texas, in the US.
The shooting occurred around 3 a.m. at a venue that was reportedly still serving drinks despite city regulations that prohibit bars from operating at that hour.
Assistant Chief James Skelton of the Houston Police Department addressed the media, providing details about the ongoing investigation.
Four of the victims remain in critical condition, while the status of the other two was unknown as of press time.
Skelton indicated that preliminary findings suggested that the individuals involved were familiar with each other, labeling the incident as an “isolated attack.”
“This type of establishment contributes to crime within our city,” Skelton remarked.
He said: “The Houston Police Department is committed to targeting these locations and shutting them down, as they are often associated with DWIs and assaults, as evidenced by the events of the night.”
Authorities were searching for two suspects who fled the scene in a black vehicle, it was disclosed as of press time.
Police are reportedly reviewing surveillance footage and interviewing witnesses to gather more information.
