Police condemn Osun violence, deploy tactical squads in Osun to restore order

The Nigeria Police Force has strongly condemned the recent violence in Osun State, vowing to bring those responsible to justice.

The unrest has led to the destruction of property and the tragic loss of innocent lives.

According to Force Public Relations Officer Force Headquarters, Abuja ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, in response, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has ordered the deployment of additional tactical squads to reinforce security and restore law and order in the state.

The Police emphasized that acts of violence threaten democratic processes and public safety, reaffirming their commitment to identifying and prosecuting those involved. The IGP issued a stern warning against lawlessness, hooliganism, and anarchy, assuring that perpetrators will be apprehended and held accountable.

Residents of Osun State have been urged to remain calm as security measures are intensified.

The Police called on local leaders and stakeholders to reject violence and uphold the rule of law, emphasizing that electoral disputes should be resolved through the judiciary.
