Police clarify rumours on alleged arrest and detention of minor in FCT

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has addressed circulating rumours on social media regarding the supposed arrest and unlawful detention of a minor by officers from the Kubwa Police Division.

In a statement, issued by SP Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer of FCT Command ,the Police clarified that the incident in question occurred on October 16, 2024, when a Senior Magistrate Court in Dutse Alhaji issued an order related to the residence of Ann Fornchor on Henry Nweke Street, Gberango Layout, Kubwa.

During the court-mandated process, court officials were reportedly assaulted by Deborah Fornchor, leading to a warrant for her arrest for assaulting court personnel.

The FCT Police, acting under the court’s directive, apprehended Deborah Fornchor and handed her over to court authorities. She remains in custody under the court’s order pending further legal proceedings.

The Police Command stressed that all actions were conducted in strict accordance with legal procedures and court directives. Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, urged the public to report any suspicious activity to the provided emergency numbers. Complaints regarding police conduct can be directed to the Police Complaint Bureau (PCB) or the Complaint Response Unit (CRU).
