Operatives of the Oyo State Police Command have nabbed three suspected armed robbers during a routine patrol in Ibadan.
The operatives recovered a toy pistol and several mobile phones from their possession.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed the arrest in a statement on Monday.
He said that the suspects were intercepted on Awolowo Road, Bodija, on Monday, April 6, around 12:30 pm.
According to the statement, the suspects, riding a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number BDJ 386 QH, were identified as Godwin Cletus, 26; Adedokun Isah, 17; and Rafiu Usman, 19—all residents of Gbaremu area in Ibadan.
“A thorough search led to the recovery of a toy pistol hidden in a black bag, along with six mobile phones,” the police said.
“The discovery raised suspicion of their involvement in criminal activities, prompting their immediate arrest,” the statement said.
DSP Ayanlade said that the suspects admitted to robbing unsuspecting members of the public, dispossessing them of valuables.
Their confessions have reportedly provided critical leads for ongoing investigations aimed at dismantling their network.

The suspects are now in custody as a full-scale investigation continues to determine the extent of their operations and identify other possible accomplices.
