Police arrest suspected armed robbers, impersonators in FCT

The FCT Police Command has arrested four suspects at Nyanya for armed robbery and impersonation.

In a statement, the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Yusuf Mariam, said among the suspects were one James Salifu 27 years and Umar Hamza 33 years both male were arrested by Police Detectives from Nyanya during a routine stop-and-search operations on Sunday 6th June ,2021.

She said the suspects who intended to dispossess their unsuspecting victim of his vehicle confessed to being members of an armed robbery syndicate terrorizing Nyanya axis.

Mariam said exhibits recovered from them included two locally-made pistols, four rounds of live ammunition and charms.

Meanwhile, one Patrick John, 26years, and Chinyere Ikenna 31years both male, were arrested for impersonating as military personnel and defrauding members of the public.

Mariam said the duo who confessed most of their fraudulent activities, were caught while attempting robbing their victim of his motorcycle along Nyanya bridge.

She said one (1) motorcycle and military camouflage were recovered from them, adding that the suspects will be arraigned upon conclusion of investigation.

Mariam urged residents to remain calm while reaffirming its unflinching commitment to rid the FCT of every form of criminality and protect the lives and property of residents.
