A suspect, who abducted and raped a 15-year old bean cake seller to the point of death has been arrested by the police.
A statement on Friday by the Yobe Police Command said the suspected rapist who committed the act was arrested somewhere in Gombe, where he had fled.
The Yobe State Police Public Relations Officer, Dungus Abdulkarim in the statement, said: “On 11th February, 2021 about 0700hrs Detective from Fika Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended one Sani Sale resident of Gadaka who fled to Gombe State for alleged Abduction, assault, rape which resulted to the death of a 15-year old girl of same Gadaka Town.”
Abdulkarim said: “Investigation revealed that, the said victim left home on 10th February, 2021 at 0700hrs to sell Akara (Kosai), eventually she couldn’t return home until the following day when her corpse was discovered in a room at the house of the culprit who fled to Gombe after the alleged acts.”
Abdulkarim, while revealing that the suspect was divorced, noted that: “Investigation has since commenced on the matter and preparation for onward transfer to State CID Damaturu for discreet investigation and subsequent prosecution is ongoing.”
He however condoled with the family of the deceased, while calling on all and sundry to support the Police in the fight against such heinous acts in Yobe State.
