The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended four suspects—Khuzaifa Tafida, Zakari Abdullahi, Abdullahi Baba, and Adeyemo Morufu—for alleged of forgery, job racketeering, impersonation, and obtaining money under false pretences.
The suspects are accused of running a syndicate that forged official government documents to defraud individuals by promising employment at the Nigeria Police Academy, Wudil, and other federal agencies.
In a statement, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, disclosed that the arrests followed intelligence gathering and a report from the office of the Special Assistant to the President.
The suspects allegedly forged documents attributed to government offices, including the National Chairman of the All-Progressives Congress and the State House, Abuja, to facilitate false recruitment schemes.
The police recovered forged documents, stamps, and ₦1.7 million from the suspects, who confessed to using these materials to extort victims.
The public has been cautioned to avoid unofficial recruitment processes to prevent falling prey to similar scams.
In a separate development, the police successfully foiled multiple kidnapping attempts across the country, rescuing 207 victims.
In Katsina State, officers intercepted armed bandits on the Magama-Jibia road during an attempted abduction of travelers.
A gunfight ensued, forcing the attackers to retreat and leading to the rescue of 14 victims, two of whom sustained gunshot wounds.
Similarly, in Kaduna State, police operatives disrupted a kidnapping attempt in Idasu Village, Kidandan Local Government Area, rescuing 89 victims and recovering a locally made AK-47 rifle with live ammunition.
Additional rescues were carried out in Lagos, Zamfara, and Delta States through similar anti-kidnapping operations.
Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, praised the officers for their professionalism and commitment to public safety.
He reaffirmed the Force’s resolve to combat crime and safeguard the lives and property of all Nigerians.
