The Police on Friday, charged a 30-year-old businesswoman, Janet Osanigie, before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, over alleged N1.5 million fraud.
The defendant whose address was not stated is standing trial on charges bordering on fraud and stealing
She however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, ASP. Edet Ekpo, told the Court that the defendant committed the offences sometimes in September 2025, at Ogo-Oluwa filing station, Aradagun, Badagry, Lagos.
Ekpo alleged that the defendant fraudulently obtained 1724 litres of petrol valued N1.5 million from one Nneka Onwusobaku, under the pretence of selling and remitting the money.
The defendant was alleged to have failed to remit the money as promised.
“The defendant stole the money by converting it to her own use without her consent.

“She was later arrested and handed over to Police for prosecution,” he said
The offences contravene the provisions of sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Nurudeen Layeni granted the defendant bail in the sum one million naira with two sureties in like sum.
Layeni adjourned the case until April 29, for mention.
