Pioneer FCT minister, Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, passes at 96

A former federal commissioner of cooperatives and supplies as well as federal commissioner, Special Duties, Federal Capital Development Authority, Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun has passed.

He was aged 96, having been born on 12th May 1927.

Chief Ajose-Adeogun passed on July 1, 2023, according to a statement by his family, signed by Oluremi Ajose-Adeogun, FNIA.

Read the statement: “The family of Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun, FCIS, CON, JP would like to inform you of the passing of our patriarch on 1st July 2023.

“Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun of Ita-Aladan Obun-Eko, 8/9 Ajose Court, Isalè Eko, Lagos and Okanlomo of the Source – Ife, had a distinguished career with Shell Petroleum (West Africa) and upon retirement was later appointed Federal Commissioner for Cooperatives and Supply (August 1975) and thereafter, Commissioner for Special Duties, Federal Capital Development Authority.

“Later, in 1976, when the Federal Capital Territory was formed, Chief Mobolaji Ajose-Adeogun became the First Minister of the FCT and was responsible for the Master Plan for Abuja as we know it today.

“He went on to have a successful career in manufacturing and Real Estate.”
