Turkish Airlines has called for continued dialogue, following picketing of its offices in Lagos and Abuja on Tuesday by members of the National Association of Air Transport Employers (NUATE).

This is contained in a statement by the Turkish Airlines management on Wednesday in Lagos.

According to the statement, the right of workers and unions to express their views will not be restricted.

It appealed that the union should consider constructive dialogues and engagements in resolving the issues rather than disruptive measures.

“Such actions are regrettable, given the ongoing dialogue already taking place with representatives of NUATE.

“Turkish Airlines operates in full compliance with Nigerian labour laws and the applicable regulatory framework.

“We expect all stakeholders to pursue their concerns through established legal and dialogue channels rather than such disruptive actions,” it said.

The airline reaffirmed commitment to ensuring the safety and security of passengers, employees and operations remained top priority.

“As demonstrated in the past, should operational conditions fail to meet the required safety standards, Turkish Airlines will take the necessary operational measures.

“We remain committed to continuing discussions with relevant parties to reach a responsible and constructive resolution.

“We reiterate our expectation that all necessary measures will be taken to ensure a secure and stable operating environment, otherwise, we would like to inform you that we will consider the cancellation option in our flight schedule,” it said.

It also disclosed that flight was operated on Tuesday and all passengers were lifted, adding that no passenger returned home.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that members of NUATE had picketed Turkish Airlines offices to protest its alleged failure to implement the Industrial Arbitration Panel Ruling on dismissed workers.

NAN recalls that the tribunal on September 2025, advised the airline to compensate the dismissed workers in monetary form.
